Hua Hin Songkran 2026 set for 12-13 April

Hua Hin Songkran 2026 will take place on 12 & 13 April, with city officials planning a mix of large-scale water-based entertainment and traditional Thai New Year activities at Pone Kingphet Park and along Damnoen Kasem Road.

The plans were discussed on 11 March during a preparation meeting chaired by Hua Hin City Mayor Nopporn Wutthikul at Hua Hin City Municipality. Deputy mayors Bussaba Choksuchat and Sanphop Ungrassamee, mayoral secretary Nontara Kamonpramot, permanent secretary Jeerawat Phrommanee, department heads and representatives from relevant agencies also attended.

This year’s event will be held under the theme “Hologram”, with the municipality aiming to give the festival a more modern look through light, colour and sound displays, while keeping key traditional elements of Songkran in place.

Water activities and traditional events planned

One of the main attractions will be a 200-metre water tunnel running from the front of the municipal office to Pone Kingphet Park. Officials said the area is intended to provide a dedicated space for water play throughout the two-day event.

A foam party zone and a temporary water park are also planned, adding to what the municipality hopes will be a strong draw for residents and visitors during the Songkran holiday.

The main entertainment areas will be centred on Pone Kingphet Park and Damnoen Kasem Road, with stage performances and activities scheduled across both days. Pone Kingphet Park is currently being renovated but officials have said that it will be ready in time for Songkran.

The municipality said both locations will be closed to traffic during the event to allow for water-splashing activities, which are expected to run from noon until midnight on each day.

Alongside the more modern attractions, the programme will also include traditional Songkran customs. Visitors will be able to take part in the ceremonial bathing of the Phra Phuttha Sihing Buddha image, a practice associated with making merit and welcoming the Thai New Year.

Cultural performances and traditional games will also be staged, with local participation from the Hua Hin Thin Monkhla Learning Centre’s Wai Sodsai Club.

The festival will conclude on 13 April with a Maha Songkran parade featuring seven processions. City officials said the parade is expected to add to the atmosphere while also helping promote tourism and preserve Thai cultural traditions.

Mayor Nopporn said the municipality wants this year’s celebration to offer something for a wide range of visitors, from those looking to enjoy organised water activities to those wanting a more traditional Songkran experience.
