As Zika fears grip Hua Hin, the quaint Thai resort town finds itself battling a sudden surge in cases.

The Public Health Office of Prachuap Khiri Khan is sounding the alarm, urging expectant mothers to take immediate action.

In response to an alarming spike in Zika virus cases, the Public Health Office of Prachuap Khiri Khan has issued a stark warning to pregnant women in Hua Hin and surrounding areas. The latest data reveals a staggering 25 confirmed cases, prompting urgent action.

The specific zones in the line of fire include Hin Lek Fai, Hua Hin, Nong Kae, and Thap Tai. To combat the crisis, Zika virus tests for pregnant women are now available at Hua Hin Hospital. A convenient QR Code for registration ensures swift access, while an OpenChat group aids in scheduling appointments and sharing vital public health updates.

For more details, concerned individuals can reach out to the Public Health Office via telephone at 080-0224127 or 085-0790214. The gravity of the situation is underscored by the Hua Hin Municipality, confirming the virus’s rapid spread with a tally of 25 cases as of yesterday, January 3.

In a bid to contain the outbreak, the Inspection and Environmental Division is actively engaged in field research on herbal remedies and intensifying efforts to eliminate Aedes mosquitoes, the notorious Zika carriers, reported Hua Hin Today.

Simultaneously, a robust public awareness campaign spearheaded by the municipality aims to enlighten the community about the grave consequences of the Zika virus.

In related news, Professor Dr Yong Poovorawan, the leading expert from the Centre of Excellence in Clinical Virology at Chulalongkorn University, sounded the alarm on the escalating Zika virus crisis in Bangkok. Dr Yong disclosed that the virus, primarily transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, is running rampant through the city, with symptoms mirroring those of dengue fever, though potentially less severe.
